Well there's are disagreement, I believe spirits are corporeal where they reside in, rather being being totally abstract entities. They want to eat, drink, and experience the physical, it's why offerings are a thing. The problem is that I can certainly 'think' something is going to happen but without any action, it's likely not going to come to fruition. So that level of thought applies to my spiritual beliefs. With the ultimate experience being a physical manifestation of the spirit, something that is extremely rare.

I just don't see it, magic was already secretive back in the ancient times. Right now, the marketability of magic is popular, but that's just commodification, people buy crystals because they are told to buy crystals, especially with these days all it takes is one influencer.

I'd say that's too reductionist. Most conversions happened rather peacefully rather than being forced by the end of sword or barrel. We know this because the Middle East didn't start worshiping Tengri after they ravaged the place, in fact, it was the opposite away around. Remember, these conquerors still had the legacy of Rome and Greece to base their philosophy on. You might not be able to defeat a god with steel, but you can defeat it with words.
It's just that you have to keep defeating it with words...eternally. Which loops back to the Chaoskampf vs Ouroboros shtick, beasts are far older and had eons of time to develop their spirit, which points to a rather vicious struggle to remain on the top, man vs nature, god vs monster, order vs chaos, logic vs ignorance.
