yeah I wish the mechanic was scrapped and durability just meant more, right now it means nothing outside of market value (which actually makes low-durability ultratech shit better since it's less colony wealth....)
I would much rather you scrap "tainted" as a bandaid fix and instead make durability matter and damage/combat affect it much more significantly. Stabbing someone and stripping them naked as they gargle on their blood but aren't dead being better than causing someone to instantly drop dead of a heart attack/aneurysm is silly, but with durability/quality you could have it so that i.e wearing somebody's bullet-proof vest after you killed them with a dozen chain shotgun shots is bad, while taking somebody's breastplate after you killed them with a headshot and left it pristine is rewarded.

And for shit like power armor it should be treated like weapons or vehicles than wearing a dead guy's underwear
