core cast names all tell you what's the character's story and how they got powers, besides Okarun's who's a metaphor and a gag
>Momo
Momotaro, comes from another place/planet because she's no ordinary human and she is the MC of this story. Of course, just like Momotaro, she's adopted and her powers are of non human origin
>Aira
Love. Love of a mother, love of a young girl, untrquited love. Love, a one sided one, is what Aira's story is about, and the love of a mother is what gave her new life, a new perspective on love, and her powers
>Jin
Compassionate. Most of Jiji's pivotal moments are all about his soft heart and empathy, in good and bad, as his powerful alter ego is a curse he took because of his compassion, and I wonder if that will play a part once he gets rejected

except Momo (who seems to impress an ogre) every character in this pic acts exactly like the animals in Momotaro right after
>Okarun is running like a dog flashed by a light at night
>Aira looks beautiful as a bird
I know it doesn't make sense to you but in Japan birds are often a simbolysm for beauty
>Jiji looks silly like a monkey
I think it's pretty much confirmed, whatever the Momotaro theory actually implies. If not, it's still intended symbolism in the anime
