ok and if i don't want to bring exclusively explosive weapons to the squid front? It's a fucking retarded and outright terrible design choice for ONE (1) single enemy in their ranks to dictate what you HAVE to bring because they'll spawn in droves of 6 minimum with each wave of reinforcements.
They are tedious per the actual definition of the word. It's a bulletsponge that runs at you, the only thing you can do to "outplay" them is to shoot off every single arm or sidestep them. It's not fun, it's not challenging.
