Wife of Russian Soldier Says He Was Forced to Fight Past Contract, Then Disappeared
In a video appeal posted online, the wife of a Russian contract soldier has accused military authorities of illegally forcing her husband to fight in Ukraine after his contract had expired and of holding him incommunicado after he tried to surrender.
The woman, who identifies herself as Yulia, says her husband, Stanislav Viktorovich Kuznetsov, has vanished after being taken into custody by his own regiment last month.
"At this moment, at this hour, I don't know what's wrong with my husband, where he is, and what's happened to him," she says directly to the camera. "I ask that this be publicized. This is a bacchanalia."
According to Yulia, her husband, born in 1987, signed a one-year contract in 2023 and was assigned to the 41st Motorized Rifle Regiment, military unit 01069, which she sarcastically calls "this 'magnificent unit'." His contract officially concluded on September 6, 2024. He subsequently filed a report requesting his discharge.
However, instead of being released from service, Mr. Kuznetsov was deployed to a combat position near a location she refers to as "Mor." Yulia states that this position was later destroyed. Following the incident, her husband left his post without authorization.
On June 16, 2025, Mr. Kuznetsov voluntarily turned himself in to the military commandant's office in Tambov. Yulia says representatives from his regiment arrived and took him away. She has had no information on his location or condition since.
