Very high is an overstatement but strive isn't too bad by itself. Compared to previous games in the series every character feels noticeably worse to play, if it had been a new series entirely it would be better received and not as disliked by guilty gear fans. The damage and wallbreaks are the worst parts about the gameplay other than the character changes and currently poor balance, none of these are much worse than the problems with sf6 or other modern games, but they are problems that make many dislike playing it. The fanbase is the worst part of strive and what gets it mocked the most, as it is largely made up of smash refugees and trannies even in the top levels which arcsys encourage with advertising and very lax punishments when they cause problems. The strive community also is just weird and unfunny with how they talk about bridget or other things, and they get really mad when you don't like that or strive itself.
