1. There are no such things as abusive relationships. We do not live in India where you are married off at 16 to someone your parents chose for you. You choose who you associate with.

2. Women have always been more abusive than men. Just look at the statistics between gay men, straight couples, and lesbian women. There is a direct correlation between the amount of women in a relationship and the divorce/abuse rates. Its most likely that men simply took it and didn't really care. Who gives a shit if your wife yells at you or hits you sometimes? Its not that big of a deal really.
