I don't remember exactly, but one of the women working on the show tweeted confirming that Penumbra is a lesbian and that she and Della were supposed to be a couple. Fortunately, Disney intervened and banned Della from being bisexual. They said it was their "Legacy" character and the DT2017 team could do nothing.
