I seriously wonder if Annie ever had to do propaganda for the Grand War. In the 40s almost everything was geared towards the war effort, including family-friendly characters like Bugs Bunny.

It wouldn't be too far-fetched that Franz would have, or at least try, to have a popular character like Annie drum up support for the war.
