Obviously the bot hates it. But I think that even from a serious perspective, open kan isn't terrible. The B-class ryanmen wait is completely live, and you don't care at all if you give toimen another dora; him tsumo'ing only puts one of your realistic rivals further down and moves the game along. Even without 5p as a safe tile, you can still fold relatively safely with 678p.
