Oh thank FUCK after like three hours I finally got it out by closing my eyes, looking sideways, making the normal contact removal finger grab, and keeping it pressed while facing my eyes forward again under the eyelids (documented here for scientific record keeping.)

In an unfortunate blow to the quality of the thread however I am now eternally obligated to give bronya attention and say at least some nice things about her on account of her attempt to help.
