There is no appeal. It's something you're tricked into. I used to fucking hate feet — "used to" — the fucking bastards.
I love birth though, and half the birthing pics would use the gir's sweaty, moist feet to frame the picture — either at the corners or sides — to redirect your attention in some dignified manner toward the heroine pushing out an ugly monster baby, orc/goblet, or slimy newborn. It's insidious. You don't even notice the feet until, years later, you find yourself achieving only a half-chub when you suddenly realize that the feMC's toes aren't properly curled with signs of effort and stress. The feet have taken you! By the time you conscious acknowledege it, it's already too late.
Toes are just stunted fingers and express as much personality as their elevated counterparts. When you acknowledge this, you will come to peace with your inner monke.
