The moon is not an object . it likely is either a plasma ball or something of a reflector , something that reflects light.
Or all of them are lights formed by a planetary field.
It may be also not going straight but going around a torus, like that.
In either case the object we call "moon" can easily have phases.

However, what is 100% and is yet another 20th disproval of the ball theory,
is that the object called "the moon" cannot possibly affect tides.
