I won't disagree but if you are in a fallout plume, iodine exposure should be a long-term concern and it's not going to kill you unless you willingly avoid medical evaluation. You should actually be concerned about acute exposure, with the specifics changing based on your distance from the detonation. Close range is going to have horrendous gamma/neutron exposure with a very narrow LD ratio, and long range (distance) is going to have more concerns with bone seeker isotopes and skin damage from particles. Cancer, basically.
