A fairly small hand axe is usually the most comfortable to work with.

It's natural when we are the second largest country in Europe but with a population of ~10 million.

So the Scandi way of life has always been about forestry/woodworking, maybe farming and sea fairing.
Hunting also (leading to fairly high number of registered guns per capita).

Yesterday I taught my 5 year old how to use a saw and power drill when we made bird houses out of scrap wood. And he was so proud that he took his little sister out to the trees to impress on her how good he was with a hand saw. :D

But people who can work with their hands are a dying breed I reckon.
