I think Axeman defines Loid as the persona he uses when interacting with people outside of the loop.
Loid acts like a patient and mild-mannered family man when he's in front of people outside the family. When he's alone with them, he is more unguarded and doesn't bother hiding his annoyance and impatience either. But he still uses it in certain situations, like when Yor became upset last chapter because he gave a placating "Loid" answer instead of his own genuine opinion on staying together.
