Actually its a good idea specially if you are leveling alt jobs, you WANT to save tomes to buy the level 90 gear. This mostly just apply's for people speed leveling as a DPS, most of the queues for roulette will be slower than just spamming dungeons (with npcs) so a lot of the time you will find yourself short of tomes, making raid gear extremely necessary.
