The appeal is the "stinger" panels. His writing is kinda mediocre (as said by some retard on 4chan), but that's not why you read his stories. You read his stories because they usually have a really neat and striking panel that's usually used for a shocking revelation. Like how Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark has a spooky picture you'd get shown after the story was read to you. This one always fucked me up as a kid. Both the picture and the concept.
