I have these things to say:
You can always blame yourself for one mistake, but every mistake counts the same, whether you do it at the end or the beginning. In a team, everyone makes mistakes and so everyone shares the blame. There's never going to be one specific mistake that costs everything. I have my own things that I wonder if I should have done differently in the first hanchan, too. I wish the vods on FC2 showed the onscreen chat because I need to see people yelling at me in my game.
Starting 240 points behind at the start of the US session and making it here was pretty ridiculous. And that's with the unbelievable luck Team Ransei had in US game 2. I feel like we won the moral victory, if nothing else.
I can break character now that league is over for me. Not wanting to be on the /jong/ team was about 33% banter, 33% jokes, and 33% real feelings. I didn't actually know that much about /jong/ but I wanted to be on a team with people I regularly interacted with, and also maybe a competitive team, I guess.
I didn't know enough about /jong/ to know why people disliked them exactly. Now I think I have an idea (the blogging) but I can say that people there like and want to play mahjong. There was never any shortage of talking in team chat, or of people to play the games, and even in L-League we fielded 1 or 2 games for every player on our team as evenly as possible. Quite a far cry from some emjaygee'ers who don't even finish their 5 tournament quali games.
I know I'm more competitive than most people, so I don't try to push advice on people unless they asked, but I tried to help with reviews if people did ask, and I do think people on the team improved since the start.
I consider myself as good or better than anyone at playing under pressure, and I didn't let myself down in my 2 L-League games, but I still wonder if there was anything I should have done differently in game 1. It was still fun though to watch Kaavi mog my score and almost do the impossible.
