Just kidding, she's thought to be the reincarnation of one of the character's dead mother. At the end of the episode it turns out her spirit was only possessing an unrelated child. That scene is her showing her son a scar as proof that she's actually his mother. Funnily enough this was the exact plot of the anime Shougakusei, Tsuma ni Naru but this series came out like 20 years before it.

It was a good episode.
