This is not a number of people gassed.
It is not a number based on mass graves.
This is not figured by counting piles of shoes.
This is census numbers.

This includes deaths in combat.
This includes deaths from exposure.
This includes deaths from collateral damage.
This includes, likely, people that would not self report being jewish.
This includes jews that fled abroad.

6 million is the commonly held number of jewish "victims of the holocaust" but not specifically the number of people supposedly killed with Zyklon B in death camps.
