that's because both domains were evenly matched in terms of refinement, but the moment one domain is slightly better than the other, the weaker one just shatters making it a less than useless ability against opponents with stronger domains.

What I'm talking about is the kind of clash where even if the other's domain is stronger, you could still use it even if it gives lesser buffs or you control less territory. That way you are not totally powerless the moment you find someone a bit stronger.
