DL2 was terrible at first
but they kept patching it
they kept listening to players
and it turned out to be an OK game eventually

you wont unlock guns instantly, you need to wait until the second half of the game and then some until you need to investigate some cashe, a dude named Jai or something will contact you to do instanced shit. then you get guns. a gun. a pistol. after that you need to start doing daily shit for more guns and other things. it will take the better part of 20 days or more if you want to unlock everything because some daily quests are annoying as fuck like a double kill headshot with a bow or trying to airshot one of those little screaming faggot child zombies

if you play online be prepared for glowstick parties, which are basically fighting right outside a safe zone with those little throwable UV lamps fighting stunned volatiles as you get high on regeneration juice and shit until daytime. oh by the way there are tokens you get for killing zombies that you use to upgrade your craftables
there are other farms too like volatile hive farms. the volatile screams its head off while you fight off the spazzy twitchy screaming type of zombies while the other volatiles stay outside. you can farm those volatiles too but its risky since apartment buildings and shit
