The distance from Iran to Israel is great enough that ballistic missiles have to reach a pretty high altitude, which means a higher velocity re-entry.

The hypersonic buzzword gets thrown around a lot, but not all hypersonic missiles are the same. It's not that hard to make a ballistic missile reach hypersonic velocities. Making a hypersonic cruise missile is harder, and making one that is powered by a scramjet instead of a rocket is even harder.
