I read Gothic Violence because I was sold on the premise but felt like it underdelivered.
>GOTHIC VIOLENCE follows a gang of jihadist surfers who use insider trading profit to disable the national power grid and capture Florida amid total panic.
Sounds really interesting and then you read it and it's just about eating raw meat and working out. Most of it is self-help shit. The fiction parts toward the beginning are pretty interesting, but the capture of Florida happens in one chapter at the very end and concludes that terrorists can successfully take over a U.S. state after one half-assed attempt to try and get it back.
