Because then Saudi Arabia will want nukes to counter the Shi'a threat. Then Turkey. Then Yemen. Then the UAE and Qatar. Then Jordan. Before you know it, the entire Middle East is nuclear equipped pointing nuclear warheads at each other's cities. I'd be surprised if the Middle East doesn't turn into a nuclear wasteland in this scenario within 5 years and everybody's precious holy cities flattened like Nagasaki. Give Iran nukes if that's the future you want.
