Welp, I went back on my word. Muv-Luv did end up making me cry, after all. I held it together throughout the entire hive section, but the scene with Sumika after the plane landed did me in. I haven't read many VNs yet, but I don't think I've ever cried to an anime, manga, or movie before (though that isn't to say nothing's ever brought me close).
