"Mass charges," She would say, "While impressive, are not very effective when against an opponent that's dug in, has superior technology, and is fortified." She presented her biggest proof as the attempted wave attack by the Bandit King's forces against your estate. Even though you were all outnumbered by the combined thousand-plus strong bandit forces, the invaders were completely wiped out to the last bandit, with only the graveyard and Bandit King remaining as proof of their existence.
If it wasn't obvious before, you were reminded how much Gerty liked speaking about military tactics. Every once in a while you would share some strategy from your old world, which would cause her to praise you for your 'military genius' much like when you introduced the idea of trench warfare.
"Sir!" This was one of those occasions Gerty would take you aside to speak with you, "I urge you to not consider line infantry as a standard. As much as I admire Westphalia, there are certain duchies within the region that retain such outdated military tactics. It would result in massive harm for our forces— even with the use of your machines. Although a line of armored clankers could use the tactic to great effect, it would do so in spite of the tactic rather than because of it."
"Line tactics are when a bunch of soldiers stand in a line on an open field, right?" You asked, vaguely recalling something about it in the history books.
"That is the essence of it, sir." Gerty replied.
"Yeah don't worry, I don't plan on using it." While it sounded interesting as a past concept, you liked your robots more.
Gerty saluted, and you both went back to coordinating with everyone.
In another of these occasions she'd theorize about the viability of using construction clankers and digging machines to quickly build fortifications and trenches. Bertha, gaining a begrudging respect for the machines after countless hours spent fighting them, agreed with the use of clankers in battle.
You yourself considered Gerty's ideas.
>And you made Gerty continue to train you all. (Uses up Gerty's action next week)
>And you let Gerty practice using the construction clankers to quickly build up fortifications. (Uses up Gerty's action next week)
>However, you wanted to keep her schedule flexible for when next week rolled around.
>(Write-in)
Besides the training which complimented everyone's morning practicing, there were random drills held throughout the week. These were both to attack and to escape, mostly focusing on evacuating quickly in the case of an emergency or in giving a rapid response to any attack, mostly focusing on quick-drawing weapons. Gerty's class wasn't Gunslinger, but she knew enough about guns to shoot accurately.
Bertha became a much better warrioress now that she had experience sparring with opponents that weren't low lever bandits, robots, or monsters. She was also got a prompt to change her [Custom Special], something she was very proud to attempt in showing you.
