I don't give a shit what other people were or weren't saying. I am telling you right now that the context of that election is fundamentally different from this one, and is unlikely to be predictive. That doesn't mean Republicans will necessarily win, but if they win or if they lose has nothing to do with what happened in 2018, or 2022, or any other midterm. The factors that will determine this midterm will be how much Trump can accomplish in the 16 months and which candidates are fielded in the various elections. Neither of those is set right now, so it's all just theorycrafting.
