They had Tiny Toons (among other things) aimed at the new Saturday Morning Kids show audience. That introduced a new generation (and merchandising potential) to Looney Tunes.

However, things are far more saturated nowadays. Despite multiple seasons of Wabbit, New Looney Tunes, and Looney Tunes Cartoons, they just aren't mainstream anymore.
