X-Evo did have a really dark Alphamon (and a Hyper Colosseum card based on that movie's Alphamon even called him "the jet-black ultimate knight") but there were still plenty of appearances, especially in official art, that still looked more silvery. It was Tri in 2015 that seems to have really solidified near-black Alphamon.
