I am a Coptic Egyptian and I would like to answer this question. During the Old Kingdom, Egyptians probably were mostly black. But around the time we started to invent shit, we were already beginning to mix with other races, such as the hyksos, persians, and assyrians. Later the greeks and romans. Copts never ended up mixing with the Islamic invaders unless they converted to Islam.

What do Coptics consider themselves? Most say white, some of the liberals say black. I say mixed race. Genetically, we are more caucasian then african but it is generally a mix.
