I think a lot of it is to minimize the effect of PFAS's and microplastics affecting the body and brain. Both of which are inside of you right now. Just look up the amount of microplastics you have in your balls right now from published studies. Petroleum based molecules and their deriritives have an unknown negative effect on us that we are just scratching the surface of even understanding. If we are talking about Prions, then shit is really fucked but these aren't misfolded proteins like that to any sort of extent like that. The scientific medical research community really does need some housecleaning. They made cholesterol a boogieman to push more drug sales with, when cholestorol actually helps arteries and vessels to heal.
