>Society would be better of if (((conditions))) were satisfied.
I have good news and bad news, depending how you frame it... The reason everyone is troop-alarming about what feels like half a consciousness coming out of language models is not an accomplishment in so far that computers are humans now, but instead, that when you are able to dispassionately evaluate what it happening when a upright mammal mouthclicks a set of words into a textbox, really that's the thing that's less impressive than it first seems. You can apparently pass the turing test with very big data and very big compute and just put words into gramatically correct sentences and scan the entire internet and regurgitate the pattern that takes you from questions to answers, and if you see the algorithms close to the metal, you'll be disappointed, I don't understand, it's just a federation of hash maps buffing trees of constant tournament brackets, I see gradient ascent, I see lookup tables, I see genetic algorithm, guess and check, matrix multiplication, lstm temporal layer backfed recurrent neural networks, pattern matching, activations of functions, It's a mosh pit of activity selected because it works.

Socrates got there a thousand years ago, Democracy is the worst. Every single one of these invalids pulling at the tillar of state? Fuck no.
