Based. I spent a lot of time emulating old systems in the 2000s and 2010s. But something didn’t quite feel right, you know? It was always…. Off. But I could t quite explain why.
Then recently I got my hands on a CRT, plus some old mint systems and some Everdrive carts. And fucking WOW. It felt responsive and *real* in a way I hadn’t experienced for decades - ever since the real thing back in the 80s and 90s.
That’s when I learned about emulation lag. All that emulation carries about a 100ms input lag which causes everything to feel squishy and delayed as fuck… but so slightly that you might almost swear it’s your imagination. …until you play the real thing, that is, and suddenly are back to the 20 to 30ms input delay you remember from way back when.
Emulation fags literally won’t ever comprehend what they’re missing. I’m just grateful for Krikkz and his carts so I don’t have to shell out for the overpriced games themselves just in order to play them.
