Aligned with this guy. Find a niche. And don't use stuff like medium or whatever. Make a github.io page or host it on a VPS or something with a comment-section of some kind like with utteranc.es or something.

I write a tech blog exclusively about high performance tricks that I found and success-stories and such and it seems to get some good traffic and attracts like-minded people. It's fun! Mostly about SIMD and graphics/rendering and emulation and deep-dives about the limitations of certain techniques or file-formats and such.
It takes a lot for me to write them. And it takes a couple times to adjust to the writing-style. I write maybe once or twice a year, mostly because I spend a lot of time on animating visuals and research. But it did aid in making me more employable early in my career and it shows passion. There are even projects that reference topics I wrote about in my blog which helps solidify my place within my niche interest, and its validating too I guess.
