I sorta doubt the artist is going to let that happen, that'd be a big fuck you to the target audience that made the manga popular in the first place. Then probably more an open ending if I had to guess.
I don't really think Mikoto is interested in him, but she's obviously someone he's really noticing. I think it's more being the jealousy from Sou and maybe him crushing a little on Mikoto without it going anywhere. I'd hate if it turns into some silly unrealistic harem where Mikoto likes him because he's nice or whatever retarded reason she could be interested in him. She's like way too good for him, probably one of the most attractive girls in town.
