They aren't even that rational about their existence.
More costs for the state means state needs more taxes or debt (bigger budget).
That means more power to the state over the people, and more power over the state (and extracted wealth) for the banks.
Just look at the US debt and budget for instance.
There is not a chance in hell they will ever pay off any of it, and the federal debt increases by some 4-5% of GDP every year...
There is not even a pretense that they will ever pay it off, even as interest payments are the second largest expenditure (and on rpute to take over social security).
The goal is to keep the goyims enslaved by debt with no other purpose than to pay interest to (((the banks))). That's the goal, at least judging by outcomes and actions, of the globohomo neolib world order.
