They were becoming irrelevant before they lost their minds. States and school boards would slowly stop needing them since they can just prop up a camera and stream their legislative or school board sessions on some streaming service. As for the shows, the documentaries have been supplanted by on demand services or sites, and the kids shows have been replaced by YouTube whether the brainrot kind or decent kind
