He pulls out some two pound Aluminum plates. There are eight of them, enough for these poor, poor bastards and bastardettes. He tosses them or hands them off as able.
"Open your outer shells and slide these in!" he says.
Distances
It is about 200 meters from the center area where they are in position, and the beginnings of where the brush and woods are. This is the very extent for a lot of SMGs and things of that short. Cowboy Carbines and shotguns firing slugs can reach out to this distance too. A lot of assault rifles can barely burst or spray half-accurately out to this distance too. In other words, 200 meters is "Breathing Room".

Combat beginning
Going to ground and taking up defensive positions at the edge of the treeline is a group of individuals in green/brown county Sheriff's deputies, state police, or the US woodland camo uniforms of the national guard. Normally there would be a dice roll or something to see if you can figure out what is going on, but their initiate is the slowest of everyone so...
They are going to look around and target the group, most likely Doc, who is not in a furrow. The Survivalists (Wildcat and Rook) have stealth and camouflaged training, and are using whatever was cut earlier as concealment.
All of the Survialists of the recon group or our expanded team, will declare next. They will target the people they recognize as the enemy or who they see are about to fire at them. Few of them have automatic weapons, and all of them are more accurate if they do aimed fire, which they will be doing.
Saki is still either really tough or really fast/flexiable. The first makes them harder to hurt and helps with recovery and not getting tired. The second would make them faster in combat. If she is faster, she would declare after them and be able to react to what all the above are doing. If not, she declares when they do and can only react to the humans who are about to shoot at us.
All of the nerds can declare before or after Saki, but they can change their mind in order to react to what Saki does.
