>a crush on a girl you'd never talked to before
yes but I saw them in a human environment, how they behave, interact, mimic, gestures, etc, never a celebrity or just by pictures, and it passed really quick when I realized it's only a crush.
emotions invoked by media are mostly fictional, and they pass really quick aswell. actual emotional stuff like a relationship ending hits way harder and longer, and this marriage is getting equated to the latter.
>what is that exactly that is being sold here in your opinion
pretty much everything you mentioned. from gameplay, the interaction with the game as a personality, comedy, etc. and obviously it's not the peak of comedy or gaming in most cases. but no one engages solely with the peak of peaks. it boils down to how it is presented and that's where the streamer and their personality is coming in.
>It's being there and experiencing the same thing and sharing a moment and laughing together
I agree on this aswell. Maybe it's just layered more from my pov. the 'internet friends' type of bond >inb4 we can't be friends and the actual romantic/love bond. I can interact with people and enjoy their company, wit, gaming skill, whatever, and not be romantically invested. that's how I feel about vtubers, generally. for my oshi in particular it's also a girl next door who goes on a grand journey to achieve her dreams and I love rooting for her, but I can't see her romantically or sexually.
