It's not (just) males. It's not (just) females. It's not (just) Nijis. It's not (just) VShojo. Anyone trying to say it's "just" one of these things is a complete retard and trying to push some agenda.
The thing is: for the most part the Holo girls, from the very start, are serving an otherwise underserved niche of the live streaming community

Now, here is the important part: anything that would change that type of content, and anything that would cater to SOME OTHER audience, that's what's frowned upon.
The content Hololive provides is rare as fuck and the audience Hololive caters to is considered "unworthy", that's why that same audience resist with all might any attempt by "other audiences" to convince the Holo girls to cater to them, be it the homo audience, the vshojo audience, niji male audience, niji girls audience, twitch audience and whatnot.
Way before the problem was "homobeggars" there were "nijibeggars" (somewhat aided by Kiara and her misguided unityfaggotry).
Before that, "vshojobeggars" (somewhat aided by Coco and her misguided stubbornness to include Projekt Melody in her content)
Every step of the way it got pushback even if people didn't care at all that Okayu would collab with Shiina, Suisei with Toko and Haachama with Hoshikawa because these didn't fundamentally change the type of content those girls were serving but the alternative that was trying to be pushed did.

tl;dr: it's more than just the boogeyman of the week, the root of the problem is trying to change the type of content the girls are providing what whatever alternative that's being pushed.
