Doing 1 big finishing move with someone doesn't show that they can fight together. That's like saying Mavuika and Aether doing the final move together means they both can fight together. Look at the difference between Skirk and Aether vs Mavuika and Aether.

And after that the AE should have gotten more showings that they improved as a team as time went on. They could have shown Dan being the main attacker while lance MC defends March as she shoots arrows. Anything to show their teamwork.
