I remember as a child I used to be able to see the stars at night and even the Milky Way in the sky. Not anymore. Now all of our street lamps have ultrabright LED lighting, and you can't even see more than around 20 stars in dark spots. Light pollution is real.

I live in the large bright spot that spans Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany on the satellite photo.
