Yeah, but the intent was to give oneself leeway for her design (she clearly looks human here [>>279639080 & >>279639103] rather than decrepit).
Plus the anime outright discards her mystery-cloaked appearance, so I don't really think it was to mask her "destruction-addled" body under a veneer of beauty.
