I doubt it. Nightline is a completely different genre. CBS could do better than Colbert. He was simply unfunny for years and years, and constantly picking political fights, and nobody wants that liability. Nobody wants that opportunity cost. Perhaps most importantly, Letterman set up the Late Show with a format designed to make it a highly political comedy show from the start. It isn't really suitable for actual enjoyment, and it has a substantial opportunity cost as a result. Nobody wants to constantly risk political alienation, boycotts, and various other problems for a comedy show to appeal to wacko liberals. Its propaganda value is gone now that Trump is in office again, and he hasn't made a joke on his so-called comedy show in nearly 10 years. Colbert just isn't as funny as he was on Comedy Central, and everybody knows it. For reference, even though he presumably has some of his leftover fans from the Colbert Report AND a good deal of David Letterman's leftover fans as well, he has only 2M viewers while he had 1.5M on the Report and Letterman had 3 million during his time. Colbert effectively lost over half of his viewers and even began to apologize for acting too playful and funny during his earlier years as he became even more absurd and partisan.
Jimmy Kimmel is toast. Overall, Seth Meyers can be replaced but they're so unpopular they had to lay off the show band to save money lol. After Midnight already got cancelled, and it was only around for like a year apparently. I didn't even hear about the show it replaced. Late Late Show? Wow, never knew. Jimmy Fallon was actually funny the like 2 times I ever saw him on TV, and I haven't heard of him going off the rails like Colbert, so he'll survive. The rest will be replaced, and maybe they'll just abandon comedy completely like ABC did. Late night comedy shows are basically so you can listen to something silly and relax as you slip into sleep, so they can't be serious ever.
