Double posting, but another thing that would be lost if it were animated is the incredible composition of the panels and how the action's frozen in time perfectly. Watterson always lauded Krazy Kat for its changing backgrounds and the spontaneity, doing only what comics can. Animation requires careful planning, so no instant ink drawing, and the appreciating the entire page for the panel layout and posing is lost.
