Here's some 'actual' insider info about Bethesda, from someone who spoke to an ex-dev.
There is an insane culture of toxic positivity at Bethesda and that's why the stories and writing suck. One time, a lead artist tried to criticize the writing on Oblivion and that quest designer he critiqued tore him apart in an email and threatened him and he shut up about it after. That's just about every story about the writing in Bethesda games.
It's not JUST Emil Pagliarulo, it's all the quest makers and designers in general- They write most of the dialogue in Bethesda games and Emil just does the major stuff. The ones with talent aren't allowed to shine too much while the boring but 'passable' designers get seniority and authority on what goes through. Emil is too fucking nice to criticize people and isn't discerning enough to understand what 'boring' is. This is so deeply rooted in the company's problems that nepo-hires from the 90s are dragging the quality down, not just "indians" or "women with colored hair"
