That's actually one of my issues with how the art style has evolved. They make the running look really ugly and distorted.

Look at Kitasan in S3, she looks fucking ugly as hell when she runs. The OAVs and Movies take this up to 15, it's annoying. It's a sports anime, but it's also a cute girls anime, let the girls be cute.
