It was a good dilemma. A lover and a family member is above a cat in Asa's mind, but only after she grows and develops as a character. That's what she needs to learn from her mother's death. Denji however is neither of those things, and he's still just between a cat and a criminal. That's why she accepted to weaponize Denji and why Yoshida's acting as her switch. However, once she has a lover and a family member, she'll learn from her previous mistakes that they matter more than a pet like a cat or a dog. That's yet to come in the future arcs.

And those that didn't jump are sinking in thoughts of suicide as we speak. That was my point. Just look at all the giga-whale AsaDen artists now. Some are honest and admit their feelings, they want Denji dead and away from Asa, but other cum-recepticles just keep wisely quiet, shit and piss themselves in anguish and frustration. I always say this, never invest in a bait-and-switch crackship. That's why I always stuck to the endgame YoshiAsa.
